| Take your music to work or on the road.
Handheld devices like the ones available from Creative, Apple and
iriver now have enough capacity to store most music libraries. A device with a 15GB drive, for example, can store about 300 CD's of music in a package small enough to fit in a shirt pocket.
You can listen to the music with head-phones, but you can also connect to a normal audio amplifier (as you would from a PC) by using a mini-stereo to RCA cable and connecting to any input on the amp except
Phono.
Or you can hook the device up at work, open Media Center, and you'll find all your music there under
Drives and Devices in the Organization Tree. These devices usually connect to a PC by using a USB cable or a Firewire (IEE1394) cable.
When you're loading the device up, many options are available by right-clicking on the drive letter where you find it in MC under
Drives and Devices. Synch allows you to synch specified playlists, which could even include a playlist for all your music (if the storage on the device is big enough).
You will need a current version of Media Center and the latest plug-in for your device. Both are available at www.jrmediacenter.com.
